So why do we say it’s the new currency of trust? Because brands that ignore sustainability today will be ignored by customers tomorrow. It’s no longer a choice — sustainability is now a must for every responsible business. So, it’s time that we take the first basic step towards the journey of Sustainability – Saving the trees. This brings us to the technical term “FSC”

What is FSC or why do we keep talking about it? Simply put, FSC, or Forest Stewardship Council, is an organization that looks after forests and makes sure paper and packaging come from responsibly managed forests. There are mainly 3 types of FSC labels used :

1. FSC 100% → All materials come from FSC-certified forests.
2. FSC Mix → A mix of FSC-certified, recycled, and controlled sources.
3. FSC Recycled → Made completely from recycled material.

Now, does buying FSC-Certified paper cost extra?

Many people wrongly think that going green is always expensive. But the rules are easier to follow than most people think, and one just needs to check a few key points:

For businesses, there are two ways to start using FSC-certified paper in printing:
🌳 Work with FSC-certified printers.
🌳 Get your own FSC certification to make your brand stronger.

Here’s a simple guide on how you can get your FSC certification easily:

👉 Decide to follow FSC standards.
👉 Work with an agency that can help with the certification process.
👉 Make small changes in how you store materials and handle papers like purchase orders and sales invoices.
👉 Go through a third-party audit to check if you meet the rules.
👉 Sign the agreement, and you will get your FSC certificate.

So, if you’re committed towards sustainability, the certification doesn’t just save the planet, it shows  your customer you’re a responsible business.

At CDC, we have been using FSC paper for quite some time now, and as we plan to increase capacity at our new Ahmedabad unit, we are committed to using 100% FSC-certified materials for every book printing project.

So its time we choose sustainable printing over anything else without compromising quality, else we might think that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years or maybe 10 years ago but second-best time is now.

Let’s make FSC the basic rule, not the rare exception.
